VictoriaVictoria has one main fleet in Victoria based out of Sandringham Yacht Club. Sandringham is about a 20 minute drive south of Melbourne with ample all concrete hardstand space, room for trailers, two cranes for J24s and arguably the fairest sailing conditions in Australia right next to the club. For more information about the club go to www.syc.com.au Sandringham also has a spectacular new club building located right on the water’s edge, with members bar, restaurant and function rooms. Sandy was also the location for the 2010 J Nationals and we were the first Nationals held in the new facilities. There are currently 10 boats in the fleet with all boats racing competitively and number is on the rise, with currently potentially 5 new owners thinking about joining the fleet! We have a strong group with several boats at the pointy end of the national fleet. We race on Sunday mornings with short course one design and handicap classes on short windward/leeward courses. Also Thursday nights during summer and Saturday afternoons during winter. We have a strong mentoring program to help newcomers and those in the second half of the fleet, a good group of crew that often get shared around to help all boats.
