President’s Opening Comment
President outlined the years activities and noted that it had been a very successful year for the J24 Class. From the Nationals at Melbourne, the SA and Vic states, through to the NSW States and Legends Regatta being an enormous success, the class has seen a good profile and number of boats racing in general.
Thanks also to the various organising State committees for each of these events. Thanks once again to Luke Mathews for his ongoing work on the website, also to Pete Stevens, Terry Wise, Arthur Crothers and Paula Shires-Clarke in particular for their ongoing involvement and work.
The advertising program with Sail-World has been suspended as decided by the committee, thoughts on this were varied from negative to enthusiastic positive and it may be looked at again in the future.
The Constitutional review is underway with a comments deadline by the end of February and a presentation of the revise by the Vic States.
Upcoming regattas are the possible Asia Pacs in Adelaide, 2012 Nationals in Adelaide and various State Champs with plenty of talk of more interstate involvement in these this year.
The next nationals format is to be changed and the proposal is that it be conducted as a 3 day long weekend regatta in March.
