Sydney to host the 2011 NationalsIt’s the turn of NSW to host the J24 National Championships for 2011 and Middle Harbour Yacht Club at the Spit will be the officiating club. After the fantastic efforts from SYC and the Victorian J24 Association for the Nationals in January 2010, NSW will ensure the 2011 Nationals live up to expectations! Racing on Sydney Harbour is always a pleasure for visiting boats – OK, so we know it gets a little busy but the Sydney boats are used to that, and spare a thought for the Sydneysiders who get a bit disorientated in the flat uncrowded waters of Port Phillip Bay!! Keeping a look out for ferries is part and parcel of sailing in Sydney, as is dodging cargo ships, cruise ships, naval ships, kayaks, cruisers, Sow and Pigs reef and sometimes dolphins too, and for visiting boats, we wish to share our beautiful harbour. The intricacies of sailing with our summer sea breezes, typically 15-20 knot north-easterlies, harbour headlands, warm water and wonderful views all make the racing more interesting! So – Sydney it is!! We would love to pull a large fleet together for some competitive racing and the Nationals will be a qualifier for the 2011 Worlds. |
